Assessment Process

The Assessment Process at the UPR-RP is faculty led, data driven, and course embedded .  The Institutional Assessment Plan of Student learning provides the conceptual framework for the approach to the assessment of student learning.  It sets up the campus level stages and cycles that have been followed.  The OEAE collects yearly information from the academic programs, aggregates results and reports them to the pertinent units for planning and policy decisions related to improvement of the student learning processes.

An Assessment Cycle in the UPR-RP Student Learning Assessment Process is defined by the following stages:

  1. Selection of the student-learning outcomes (SLO) to be measured and aligned with the academic program and with the Bachelor's Degree Profile (Academic Senate Certification #46 2006)

  2. Identification of the learning activities in which the SLO will be assessed.

  3. Development or adaptation of assessment instruments.

  4. Selection of the instances in which the SLO in a course or in different courses of the program are measured.

  5. Gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data.

  6. Proposing transformative actions which will be measured in the following assessment cycle in which other SLO will be measured and evaluated.
